About The Role

Our client, operating within the Travel & Logistics Sector, is seeking a highly skilled Lead Developer to join their dynamic team. This role offers a unique blend of hands-on coding and team leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will dedicate approximately 70% of their time to developing and maintaining scalable, efficient C# applications within an AI-first environment, specifically working with tools like Claude. The remaining time will be spent overseeing a small team of four developers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and ensuring best practices are followed across projects.

The position offers a flexible work arrangement, with three days per week based in the Woking office and the remaining days working remotely. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a technically proficient developer with leadership capabilities to influence innovative projects while maintaining a strong coding focus. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, possess a passion for emerging technologies, and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high standards of software quality and performance.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in C# development, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Hands-on experience working with Azure cloud services, including App Services, Function Apps, SQL databases, App Gateways, and API Management (APIM).
  • Experience working within an AI-first environment, utilizing tools like Claude or similar AI platforms.
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring small development teams, with a willingness to further develop leadership skills through training and professional development.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices in coding and development.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including running Scrum ceremonies and sprint planning sessions.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization, bug fixing, and software maintenance.
  • Up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development and AI integration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient C# applications aligned with business requirements and technical standards.
  • Lead and facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure agile best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to gather and define project requirements.
  • Ensure the integrity of the software architecture and uphold engineering standards across all projects.
  • Promote an AI-first culture by integrating AI tools and methodologies into development processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a small team of developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues promptly to maintain high system performance and reliability.
  • Maintain existing software systems, implementing enhancements and updates as needed.
  • Keep abreast of technological advancements and incorporate relevant innovations into development practices.
