C#.Net MVC Developer

An exciting opportunity to work across a diverse product suite

Our client is looking for an experienced Developer to join their team and play a key role in the ongoing development, enhancement and support of their diverse range of products and modules. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work across multiple applications and technologies, giving the successful candidate excellent exposure to different areas of the product suite and the wider business.

The role would suit a developer who enjoys solving problems, working across different systems and building high-quality, maintainable software. You’ll be involved in developing new functionality, improving existing solutions and helping to ensure the continued reliability and performance of the systems.

A strong background in C#,.NET, MVC and Web APIs is essential, alongside good SQL Server experience.

The role

As part of the development team, you will:

  • Develop, enhance and maintain applications across the client's product suite.
  • Work with MVC front ends and Web APIs to deliver robust and effective solutions.
  • Develop clean, maintainable and scalable applications using C# and .NET.
  • Work closely with Microsoft SQL Server, including writing stored procedures, mapping business processes to database schemas and optimising query performance.
  • Apply strong object-oriented programming principles and appropriate design and architectural patterns.
  • Contribute to unit testing and software quality.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues across the product suite.
  • Work collaboratively with development and support colleagues.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and assist with knowledge transfer and handovers to the wider support team.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of products, modules and business processes, making this a role with plenty of technical variety.

Essential skills and experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience developing MVC front ends and Web APIs.
  • Strong C# development skills.
  • Experience with.NET Framework 4.7+ and.NET Core 6+.
  • JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap and CSS experience.
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, including:
    • Writing stored procedures.
    • Mapping business processes to database schemas.
    • Query optimisation and performance tuning.
  • Ideally 5+ years' commercial SQL Server experience.
  • A strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • The ability to write well-structured, maintainable and reliable code.
  • Good communication skills, particularly when documenting solutions and sharing technical knowledge with colleagues.

Desirable skills

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Concurrency patterns in C#.
  • Software design and architectural patterns.
  • Azure SQL Server and Azure Cloud Services.
  • Integration with third-party software, databases and external services.
  • Vue.js.

The client is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong core development skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to work confidently across a varied technical environment.
