C Programmer / Telecom Protocol Engineer (3GPP)
Contract
- 6 months (extendable)

- Be eligible for security clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency)
Role Overview
You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing telecom software applications, analysing complex protocol issues, and ensuring alignment with 3GPP specifications. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of mobile network architecture, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site client environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and maintain telecom software applications in C
- Analyse and troubleshoot complex software and protocol-related issues
- Work across telecom signalling, network protocols and interfaces
- Interpret and implement requirements based on 3GPP specifications
- Participate in software design, coding, debugging, unit and integration testing
- Investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis and implement fixes
- Collaborate closely with client technical teams and on-site engineering groups
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation
- Support integration, testing and deployment activities in telecom/network environments

Mandatory Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on programming experience in C
- Solid understanding of telecommunications and mobile network architecture
- Knowledge of 3GPP standards across 3G, 4G/LTE and/or 5G
- Experience with telecom signalling protocols and interfaces
- Strong debugging and analytical skills
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP)
- Familiarity with SDLC, version control and defect management tools
- Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and translate them into software solutions
Preferred Skills
- Experience with C++
- Knowledge of 4G/5G Core or RAN technologies
- Familiarity with SIP, Diameter, GTP, SCTP, NGAP, S1AP or NAS
- Experience with protocol stacks or real-time telecom applications
- Exposure to multi-threaded or distributed systems
- Scripting experience (Python, Shell)
- Previous experience with operators, vendors or client-site engineering teams

Candidate Profile
- Currently residing in the United Kingdom
- Able to work on-site in Farnborough as required
- Eligible for UK security clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working directly with client technical teams
- Proactive, analytical and able to work independently
- Fully eligible to work in the UK
Experience Required
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant software development experience, with substantial hands-on C programming and telecommunications exposure.
- Candidates with strong 3GPP and mobile-network protocol expertise will be prioritised.
