About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join Leonardo's Integrated Sensors & Protection line of business. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of defense-related projects, developing advanced software solutions that enhance security and operational capabilities. While direct industry experience in defense is not mandatory, candidates from diverse backgrounds with a passion for software development are encouraged to apply. You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to creating innovative features and capabilities that set new standards in the defense industry.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess experience and skills including:
Proficiency in C++ software development
Additional Useful Skills Include
- C# application development
- Networking experience
- Experience developing Windows and Linux applications
- Familiarity with the software lifecycle processes, including requirements management, design, implementation, testing, and integration
- Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Git
- Software design experience using SysML or UML
- Experience developing test cases and procedures
- Understanding of Docker, virtual machines, and continuous integration tools like Jenkins
- Knowledge of software development standards such as RTCA DO-178C and coding standards including AUTOSAR or MISRA C/C++

Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at Leonardo, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software components for defense systems
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Participating in software reviews, testing, and validation processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications
- Implementing best practices in software development, including version control, documentation, and code reviews
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the software team, including automation and process enhancements
- Supporting integration activities with hardware and other system components
- Engaging in technical discussions and providing innovative solutions to complex problems
- Maintaining awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to defense software systems
