C++ Software Engineer | Low Latency & Networking

Fully remote | £80,000–£120,000 + performance bonus | Permanent

We’re partnering with a specialist technology business building performance-critical systems across data, analytics and market execution.

They’re looking for a C++ engineer with a strong understanding of Linux and networking to build systems that stay fast and reliable under unpredictable network conditions.

This role will suit someone who enjoys getting beneath the application layer: understanding TCP behaviour, investigating latency and building robust connection handling when networks become unreliable.

What you’ll be working on

  • Designing and developing high-performance, low-latency systems in modern C++.
  • Managing TCP connections, including timeouts, retries, reconnection and recovery.
  • Measuring and reducing the impact of jitter, packet loss and variable latency.
  • Profiling and tuning Linux systems to improve performance and consistency.
  • Investigating bottlenecks across application code, the operating system and network.
  • Building tooling and instrumentation to understand how systems behave in production.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
