About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join Leonardo's Integrated Sensors & Protection line of business. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a range of defense projects, developing innovative software solutions that support critical systems. You will be part of a collaborative community of world-class engineers dedicated to continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in product development. The position involves designing, implementing, and testing software components that enhance the capabilities of defense systems, with a focus on C++ development. While industry-specific experience is not mandatory, a passion for software engineering and a willingness to learn are essential. This role provides a platform to grow professionally within a dynamic environment that values innovation, teamwork, and technical excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software development, particularly in C++. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Experience with application development in C# and familiarity with networking, Windows, and Linux platforms are advantageous. Candidates should have a good understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements management, design, implementation, testing, and integration. Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Git, and experience with software design techniques like SysML or UML, are desirable. Additional skills that would be beneficial include experience with Docker, virtual machines, CI tools like Jenkins, and familiarity with industry standards such as RTCA 178C, AUTOSAR, or MISRA C/C++. Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at Leonardo, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software components for defense systems using C++ and other relevant programming languages.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participating in software design reviews, code reviews, and testing activities to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Implementing and maintaining configuration management processes to ensure software integrity and version control.
- Developing test cases, procedures, and automated testing scripts to validate software functionality and performance.
- Integrating software modules with hardware systems and performing system-level testing.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, staying updated with emerging technologies, and applying best practices in software development.
- Supporting documentation and reporting activities to facilitate project tracking and knowledge sharing.
