About The Role

We are seeking a talented Mid-Level Software Developer with expertise in C++ to join our growing engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including maintaining and extending C++ Lambda services for Open Banking, developing and enhancing React/TypeScript frontends, and creating Python microservices and tooling. The successful candidate will also be involved in writing and maintaining AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) infrastructure using Python, ensuring that AI and machine learning services are reliably deployed and scaled across different environments. As part of our team, you will participate in the entire deployment lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment across multiple AWS accounts. This position is ideal for developers who are passionate about building secure, scalable, and high-quality financial technology solutions in a fully remote setting.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with the following qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least three years of professional experience in software development, with a proven track record involving substantive C++ projects.
  • Proficiency in C++, with experience working on complex, high-performance applications.
  • Comfortable working daily with TypeScript and Python alongside C++.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice architecture principles.
  • Experience with CMake build systems for managing complex build configurations.
  • Proficiency with Git version control system, including branching, rebasing, and managing pull requests.
  • Good testing practices, including writing unit tests and conducting integration testing.
  • Ability to work in a private, distraction-free, dedicated home office within the UK, with a reliable high-speed internet connection.
  • Reside within 170 miles of Cardiff to facilitate occasional in-person meetings when required.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of technical tasks, including:

  • Maintaining and extending C++ Lambda services crucial for Open Banking integrations.
  • Developing and improving user interfaces using React and TypeScript to enhance user experience.
  • Creating and maintaining Python-based microservices and tooling to support platform functionalities.
  • Designing, writing, and managing AWS infrastructure using the Cloud Development Kit (CDK) with Python.
  • Ensuring that AI and machine learning services are deployed reliably and scaled efficiently across multiple environments.
  • Participating in the full deployment lifecycle, including development, testing, and deployment across various AWS accounts.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Writing high-quality, secure, and maintainable code adhering to best practices and industry standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize platform performance and security.
