Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Avon and Somerset Police as our ICT Team Leader.
With the current postholder due to retire in March 2027, we are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to oversee our highly skilled ICT Training Team. This succession planning opportunity offers the chance to make a lasting impact on how officers, staff and volunteers develop the digital skills needed to support modern policing.
As part of the Learning Department based at Police Headquarters in Portishead, you will lead a team of professional ICT trainers responsible for delivering a broad range of training programmes across critical policing systems and technologies.
About The Role
As ICT Team Leader, you will provide visible leadership and support to a dedicated team of trainers, ensuring the effective planning, design, delivery and evaluation of ICT learning across the force. You will also work closely with stakeholders, project teams and departmental leads to ensure training solutions support organisational change and future developments.
The Team Leader Responsibilities Include
- Providing innovative visible leadership to the team
- Overseeing the delivery of all courses
- Delivery of classroom training
- Maintaining course material to the requisite standards
- Representing ICT training at force and regional level meetings

Office days will be 60% Working for home & 40% office days which will be discussed with your Line Manager. Flexibility will be required as office days will be subject to aspects such as training and teaching days
About You
We're looking for a passionate learning professional and confident people leader who can inspire others, drive innovation and deliver high-quality training solutions.
Essential Requirements
You will be able to demonstrate:
- A teaching or training qualification equivalent to CTLLS (Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Experience of planning, administering, delivering and evaluating IT training programmes.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using a variety of IT systems, applications and digital learning tools.
- Experience researching, analysing and reviewing working practices and making recommendations for improvement.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
