Introduction

Are you a highly organised professional with excellent political awareness? Can you produce high quality briefings, speeches and research on complex issues at pace? Do you thrive in fast-moving environments, building effective relationships with senior stakeholders and elected members? Are you motivated by delivering positive change for local communities?

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of decision-making in one of London's most dynamic and diverse boroughs.

What’s the role?

Lewisham has a new administration with an ambitious agenda focused on delivering safer and more affordable homes, cleaner and greener neighbourhoods, healthier communities, and a fairer local economy. Working directly with Cabinet Members, you will help turn priorities into action.

As Cabinet Executive Officer, you will provide high-quality policy, research and organisational support to Cabinet Members. You will prepare briefings and speeches, manage complex correspondence and stakeholder relationships, support policy development, and help ensure Cabinet Members are fully equipped to lead and deliver for Lewisham residents.

What’s in it for you?

Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:

  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Local Government Pension scheme
  • Flexible working and family friendly policies
  • Season ticket and bicycle loans
  • A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
  • Supportive staff networks

What we’re looking for

We're looking for someone with excellent organisational and communication skills who can manage competing priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
