Role Description
The Cable Percussive Driller is a full-time, on-site role based in the United Kingdom, working as part of a field crew to deliver geotechnical site investigations. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Setting up and operating cable percussive drilling rigs
- Collecting soil and rock samples
- Logging ground conditions
- Supporting the safe and efficient progression of boreholes

The role involves:

- Following site plans and technical instructions
- Adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards
- Maintaining drilling equipment and tools
The driller will:
- Collaborate closely with site engineers and other crew members
- Complete accurate field records
- Assist with site mobilization and demobilization
Work may involve travel to different project sites, outdoor conditions, and occasional work outside standard hours depending on the project.
Qualifications
- Experience operating cable percussive drilling rigs or similar geotechnical drilling equipment, with a strong focus on safe and efficient site practices.
- Understanding of basic geotechnical principles, including soil and rock sampling, in-situ testing, and ground condition logging.
- Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and proven ability to follow safe systems of work and site procedures.
- Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions, complete clear drilling logs and records, and communicate effectively with engineers and crew members.
- Good level of physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including manual handling and equipment setup.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to different sites as required.
- Previous experience in geotechnical site investigation, civil engineering, or construction is beneficial.
- Relevant industry training or certifications (e.g., CSCS card, drilling or geotechnical training) are an advantage.
