Cable Technician
Location: London – Within the M25
Salary: £40,000-£45,000
Benefits: Company Van & Fuel Card
Employment: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week + overtime
TGS International Group is supporting a specialist technology and infrastructure business in the appointment of an experienced Data Centre Engineer – Field.
This is a hands-on role supporting the installation, termination, testing and fault-finding of structured cabling, fibre optic infrastructure and IP electronic security systems across client sites throughout London.
The Role
- Install, terminate, test, patch and fault-find copper and fibre structured cabling systems.
- Carry out structured cabling installations across data centre and technical environments.
- Install containment systems for cabling and security infrastructure.
- Use Fluke testing equipment to certify and troubleshoot cabling installations.
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve installation-related issues.
- Maintain quality and productivity in line with project programmes.
- Work from construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Update drawings, schedules and site records as required.
- Manage materials, deliveries and project stock.
- Ensure all work complies with client, manufacturer and company quality standards.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety across all site activities.
- Complete daily reports, timesheets and project documentation.

What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years' experience installing, terminating and testing structured cabling systems.
- Strong experience with copper, fibre and voice cabling.
- Experience using Fluke Analysers.
- Ability to identify and rectify structured cabling faults.
- Experience working from construction drawings.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Structured Cabling, Data Cabling or IT Networking.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel between client sites.
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Desirable
- CNCI, CNIT or CNIDP certification.
- CSCS, IPAF or PASMA.
- Experience with leading cabling manufacturers such as Corning, CommScope, Panduit, Brand-Rex or Excel.
- Experience with CCTV, Access Control or Intruder Alarm systems.
