Express Recruitment are proud to be working with one of the East Midlands most reputable firms within the bespoke joinery sector. They have years of experience in delivering high end design, manufacturing & installation projects for some of the UK’s most admired retailers.
Due to boasting a consistently stacked out project pipeline, our client has decided to invest in the recruitment of another experienced CAD Design Engineer to join their talented team.
In return, you will receive a generous starting salary of up to £42,000, plus access to private medical care, increased sick pay with length of service, pension, 30 days holiday (including stats) plus genuine opportunities to learn and progress with a growing employer who values personal development.
Due to the nature of the role, there will be some requirements to attend client project sites on occasions. Mileage along with all other travel incurred costs will be reimbursed.
Skills & Experience
- Apprenticeship trained in Joinery and Carpentry or degree in Product Design ideally preferred
- Proven experience in producing high-quality bespoke joinery drawings using AutoCAD
- Ability to carry out on site setting out duties with minimal supervision
- Experienced in working on bespoke designing projects from concept to completion
- Experienced in carrying out detailed site surveys
- Project management experience desirable
- Previous experience of operating shopfloor machinery desirable (e.g. Edgebanders, Band Saws, Planers, Sanders etc.)
- Full UK Driving License

Roles & Responsibilities
- Produce accurate setting out drawings based on clients’ bespoke requirements
- Attend project meetings and production meetings
- Visit client sites and carry out site surveys and setting out procedures
- Produce highly detailed setting out rods
- Produce detailed loading sheets and prototype drawings
- Perform modifications to drawing specifications based on request from Design Manager and customers
- Utilise a range of design packages, including AutoCAD, SketchUp and Solidworks
- Manage own workload effectively to meet strict project deadlines and SLA timescales
- Source supplier quotations and support material procurement
- Produce accurate cutting lists ready to handover to the CNC machining department
