CAD Design & Project Manager Permanent Full-Time

Salary – Circa £40,000 DOE
Location – Office based in Edinburgh

Join a bespoke furniture manufacturer specialising in fitted, freestanding and upholstered furniture. Working with interior designers and luxury retail clients, the business delivers high-quality pieces from initial concept and design through to manufacture and installation.

Due to continued growth in demand for bespoke commissions, they’re looking to appoint a CAD Design & Project Manager to strengthen their design team. The role would suit an experienced furniture or joinery designer confident using AutoCAD 2D and, ideally, SolidWorks, to produce detailed technical drawings and manufacturing information for the workshop.

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks for bespoke fitted, freestanding and upholstered furniture
  • Prepare technical specifications, material take-offs, joinery details, cutting lists and manufacturing information for workshop and CNC production
  • Translate client briefs, design concepts and hand sketches into practical, production-ready furniture designs, applying knowledge of joinery, construction methods, materials and DFMA principles
  • Create photorealistic renders and 3D visualisations using SolidWorks, SketchUp, KeyShot, V-Ray or similar software to support client presentations, design development and approvals
  • Coordinate multiple bespoke furniture and joinery projects from concept through to manufacture and installation, including programmes, costs, materials, site surveys and key milestones
  • Liaise with clients, interior designers, workshop teams, makers and external suppliers, reviewing CAD drawings and resolving technical or production issues to ensure designs are accurate, buildable and delivered to specification

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
