Role Description

The CAD Design Technician & Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Glasgow. This position is responsible for producing accurate CAD drawings for tapered insulation and non-combustible roofing solutions, including layout plans, details, and specifications for a variety of construction projects. The role involves preparing estimates, take-offs, and material schedules based on architectural and structural drawings, supporting project quotations and proposals.

  • Collaborating with technical and sales teams
  • Interpreting project requirements
  • Ensuring designs meet building regulations and fire safety standards
  • Updating drawings as projects develop

The technician will also maintain organized project documentation, respond to technical queries from clients and colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide Technical Support to internal teams and clients, including clear communication and issue resolution.
  • Skills in Computer Maintenance and Computer Repair to ensure CAD workstations and related equipment operate reliably.
  • Strong Troubleshooting capabilities for hardware, software, and CAD-related issues.
  • Solid understanding of Operating Systems, particularly those used in professional CAD and design environments.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar) and experience producing technical construction drawings. Min 1 YR college experience (we will consider continued release for on-going training)
  • Knowledge of roofing, insulation, or building envelope design and familiarity with relevant building regulations and standards.
  • Strong numerical skills for estimating, measurement, and interpreting architectural and structural plans.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in CAD design, construction technology, engineering, or a related field preferred.
