The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bespoke Joinery Designer / CAD Designer to join a well-established and growing bespoke joinery manufacturing business.
The company specialises in the manufacture of high-quality bespoke joinery and furniture for residential and commercial projects, and is looking for an experienced technical designer with a strong understanding of joinery and furniture manufacturing.
You will be responsible for producing accurate manufacturing drawings, workshop drawings, technical documentation and 3D models, translating design concepts into practical and buildable solutions ready for manufacture.
Working closely with Estimating, Project Management, CNC Programming and Manufacturing teams, you will take projects from design through to production, ensuring technical information is accurate, complete and suitable for both workshop manufacture and CNC processing.
This role would suit a technically strong designer who understands not just how to design bespoke joinery, but how it is actually built and manufactured.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed manufacturing and workshop drawings using SolidWorks.
- Create accurate 3D models, assemblies and technical details for bespoke joinery and furniture projects.
- Develop production information, cutting lists and machining information for manufacture.
- Interpret architectural drawings, interior design packages, client specifications and site information.
- Translate design intent into practical, buildable manufacturing solutions.
- Ensure drawings and technical information are suitable for workshop manufacture and CNC production.
- Liaise closely with Estimators, Project Managers, CNC Programmers and Manufacturing teams throughout project delivery.
- Work with factory and workshop teams to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Support design reviews and technical discussions.
- Assist with design amendments and technical queries throughout the manufacturing process.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing records.
- Manage drawing revisions and ensure correct document control procedures are followed.
- Ensure all technical information meets required drawing and quality standards.
- Identify potential manufacturing issues before production and develop practical solutions.
- Contribute to improving design standards, processes and manufacturing efficiencies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
