Role Description

Produce accurate and detailed CAD models & technical drawings for the manufacture of Unibox products & bespoke requirements against customer-focused design briefs.

Liaising with multiple departments, being the key design contact on live projects with Sales (and sometimes customers), Project Management, Procurement, Production & Installation teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating detailed drawing packs for both customer sign-off and production
  • Understanding the differences in communicating drawing detail to customers and for production.
  • Willing development of knowledge of Unibox products and applying for production through project understanding, in-house training and self-development
  • Project ownership and full understanding to facilitate communication across sales, production and installation teams
  • Creating production detail design from design briefs or concepts
  • Modifying and updating existing drawings as required
  • Working with the Solidworks PDM Vault to ensure revision-controlled drawing detail
  • Ensuring all drawings produced are accurate to brief and completed to schedule
  • Ensure drawings meet the specifications required by the production team
  • Provide technical advice and support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Working within a strong and developing design team
  • Maintain excellent levels of communication with internal teams: Sales & account management, Procurement, Project Management, Production, Installations & external suppliers
  • Point of contact for design queries from clients or internal team members when required
  • To look for opportunities to reduce costs in design, process, materials used and manufacturing techniques

Key skills and experience

  • Minimum 4 years solidworks experience
  • Experience in revision controlled & process driven design environment
  • Working to critical deadlines
  • Strong level of knowledge in some or all of the following areas would be advantageous:
    • Aluminium profile
    • Sheet metal fabrication
    • Tubular fabrication & welding
    • Sheet timber construction
    • Sheet plastics construction
    • Collaboration with all areas of the business
  • Experience in retail design or exhibition sector advantageous
  • Electrical and/or LED experience advantageous
