Location: Dartford, Kent
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Salary: £40,000 - £42,500 depending on experience
Holiday: 28 Days incl. Bank Holidays

Our client is a UK-based specialist contractor providing the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of commercial shopfronts and glazing solutions for retail and commercial clients. The company delivers a wide range of services including aluminium shopfronts, curtain walling, structural glazing, doors, shutters, glass installations, and bespoke fit-out solutions. Established as a family-run business with over 30 years of industry experience, they have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality installations for leading retail clients across the UK.
As a CAD Draughtsman, you'll be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings, fabrication details and construction plans using CAD software, ensuring designs meet project specifications and industry standards. The role involves liaising with engineers, architects, project managers and site teams, updating drawings, managing revisions and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Position Duties
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software, based on project specifications and design requirements.
- Develop detailed fabrication, manufacturing and installation drawings for construction and engineering projects.
- Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, measurements and technical information to create detailed CAD designs.
- Amend and update drawings in line with design changes, client requirements and site conditions.
- Liaise with engineers, project managers, architects, clients and site teams to ensure drawings meet project requirements.
- Prepare detailed plans, elevations, sections, layouts and construction details.
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, building regulations and company procedures.
- Carry out design checks and identify potential clashes, errors or inconsistencies before drawings are issued.
- Maintain accurate drawing registers, revisions and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, procurement and installation teams.
- Attend site visits where required to take measurements, assess existing conditions and verify drawings.
- Work to project deadlines while managing multiple drawing packages and priorities.
- Incorporate feedback from clients and internal teams and issue revised drawings for approval.
- Support the wider design and engineering team with technical detailing and problem-solving.

Position Requirements
- Experience within a similar commercial glazing, shop front design, curtain walling and aluminium products/facades position is essential.
- In depth knowledge of autoCAD software, for the design of manufacturing specifications, elevation drawings and installation specifications.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, understand clients requirements and update drawings throughout the process, ensuring a smooth customer journey.
- In depth understanding of manufacturing and installation processes, to support the design stages.
- Strong attention to detail with high level organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and keep to past-paced deadlines.
- Proactive approach to identifying, raising and resolving design issues.
- Qualifications in relevant design or construction industries would be advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to reliably commute to the office based in Dartford.

Position Remuneration
- Enjoy consistent working hours, with some flexibility available to accommodate the right candidate and support a positive work-life balance.
- A salary of up to £42,500 per annum is available, with the final package dependent on experience, skills and suitability for the role.
- Benefit from 20 days' annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays, providing a strong holiday allowance throughout the year.
- Access to the company pension scheme upon successful completion of the probationary period.
