Technical CAD Estimator

Location: Cumbernauld (Office Based)
Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

Are you an experienced CAD professional with a flair for technical design and estimating?
We're looking for a Technical CAD Estimator to join a specialist projects team delivering bespoke construction and technical installation projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the design, costing and proposal stages of a wide range of exciting projects, working from concept through to delivery.

This position offers a varied workload where no two projects are the same. You'll combine technical drawing expertise with commercial awareness, working closely with suppliers, project teams and stakeholders to produce accurate designs and competitive project estimates.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Producing accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
  • Creating concept, construction, manufacturing and as-built drawings.
  • Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Preparing quantity take-offs and detailed project cost estimates.
  • Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Supporting the development of practical and commercially viable solutions.
  • Preparing technical documentation and proposal support material.
  • Maintaining accurate project, drawing and estimating records.
  • Working closely with internal teams to support successful project delivery.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a CAD Technician, Technical Estimator, Design Technician or similar role.
  • Strong AutoCAD and SketchUp skills.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, construction or engineering drawings.
  • Experience preparing estimates and reviewing supplier quotations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A qualification in CAD, Engineering Drawing, Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Construction, building services, manufacturing, leisure or wellness sector experience.
  • Knowledge of Revit or BIM software.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, plant rooms or specialist installations.
  • Experience supporting tender submissions or technical sales proposals.
