Role Description

The CAD Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Morley. The role involves creating and modifying detailed CAD drawings for aluminium, steel, timber, and related components used in road transport and general engineering projects. Day-to-day tasks include:

The CAD Technician will work closely with sales, production, and engineering teams to support accurate quotations, efficient manufacturing, and timely delivery. The role also includes:

  • Maintaining digital drawing libraries
  • Updating documentation
  • Providing technical input on product design and improvements

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide effective Technical Support, including assisting colleagues with design queries and CAD-related issues.
  • Skills in Computer Maintenance and Computer Repair to keep CAD workstations and peripherals operating reliably.
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and drawing-related problems.
  • Solid understanding of Operating Systems relevant to CAD software environments (e.g., Windows).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD or similar), with experience producing 2D and 3D technical drawings.
  • Good knowledge of engineering or fabrication principles, ideally within metals, timber, or vehicle body construction.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy in dimensioning, and ability to follow technical standards and safety requirements.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on-site.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in CAD, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
