CAD Technician Permanent Full-Time

Salary – Circa £35,000 DOE
Location – Office based in London (South East)

Are you a skilled CAD Technician looking to advance your career with a well-established, family-run Electrical Design & Build specialist?

Join an established, highly respected Electrical Design & Build Contractor based in South East London. With a proven track record spanning over 30 years in the UK building services sector, our client specialises in delivering high-end CAT-A and CAT-B commercial workspace fit-outs and complex electrical engineering projects across London’s landmark commercial buildings.

Due to continued project growth, we are looking for a driven CAD Technician / Draughtsperson to join their experienced in-house design team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 2D electrical layouts, setting-out plans, single-line diagrams, and schematic drawings using AutoCAD
  • Draft drawings for main switchgear/distribution, office and feature lighting, emergency lighting, modular wiring/intelligence systems, and power distribution to mechanical plant equipment
  • Assist the team with technical submissions and specialized design calculations using industry software (such as Amtech / Trimble and DiaLux)
  • Coordinate drawings, revisions, and technical data across multi-phase installations from pre-construction phases through to final project handover
  • Work closely with project managers, design engineers, and main contractors to ensure accurate, buildable engineering solutions

Experiences required

  • Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in a CAD Technician or Drafting role within the UK building services / MEP / electrical contractor sector
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD is essential
  • Strong background or working knowledge of electrical engineering / electrical design (candidates with a broader mechanical/MEP background will also be considered)
  • Exposure to BIM / Revit, DiaLux (lighting design), or Amtech / Trimble (cable calculations) is beneficial, not essential
