CAD Technician for Fixed-Wing UAV Platform
We're looking for a CAD Technician to join our Engineering team and support the development of our large fixed-wing UAV platform. Working closely with Design, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineers, you'll be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate 3D models, engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and product data throughout the development lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong CAD skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced engineering environment and wants to contribute to the development of advanced aerospace products.
Responsibilities/Tasks
- Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
- Producing manufacturing and assembly drawings to support prototype and production builds.
- Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BoMs) and engineering documentation.
- Managing engineering data and supporting configuration control processes within PDM/PLM systems.
- Working closely with engineers to implement design changes and maintain design integrity.
- Supporting drawing release, revision control, and document management activities.
- Ensuring CAD models and drawings comply with company standards and best practices.
- Supporting prototype build activities by resolving drawing and documentation issues.
- Other responsibilities as agreed with your Manager

Skills/Qualifications
- HNC, HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Design, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience producing engineering drawings and CAD models in a professional environment.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks / SolidWorks PDM.
- Experience creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Good understanding of engineering documentation, BoMs, and revision control.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Desirable
- Experience working in aerospace, UAV, defence, automotive, motorsport, or other high-technology industries.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and configuration management processes.
- Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, composites, and assembly manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting prototype development programmes.

Qualification Requirements
- Right to work within the UK
- Ability to travel abroad to EU and non-EU territories
