CAD Technician

Join VolkerStevin and help shape some of the UK's most exciting civil engineering and infrastructure projects. We are seeking a talented CAD Technician to join our Engineering Department and play a key role in supporting the design and delivery of major civil engineering works. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and project teams, transforming concepts into high-quality technical drawings and models that contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects.

About the Role

As a CAD Technician, you will produce detailed drawings and models to support our design engineers and site operations teams. Working across a variety of projects, you'll ensure all outputs are accurate, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, project teams, and site personnel, providing technical support while contributing to the continuous improvement of our engineering capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate, detailed technical drawings and models from information supplied by design engineers and operational teams.
  • Prepare As-Built drawings using site records and marked-up drawings.
  • Utilise CAD software including AutoCAD LT, AutoTrack, and SketchUp to create high-quality deliverables.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with VolkerStevin Engineering CAD standards and quality requirements.
  • Support design engineers and project teams by providing technical drafting expertise.
  • Carry out informal drawing reviews to promote quality, consistency, and best practice.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to departmental development goals.
  • Assist with the identification and closure of design-related non-conformances.
  • Proactively manage workload, monitor progress against agreed deadlines, and communicate potential risks.
  • Participate in resource planning and departmental meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, project teams, and key stakeholders.
  • Attend site visits and project meetings to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
