- Restoration: External mansion block repair schemes and internal common part refurbishment.
- Cladding remediation: Design and build contracts replacing combustible cladding to residential high-rise buildings.
- Fire compartmentation: Certified fire door installation, repair and maintenance, as well as compartmentation schemes and installation of fire detection and suppression systems.
Job Purpose:
The Technical CAD & QA Assistant plays a dual role supporting both technical design delivery and quality assurance compliance across the business. The position is responsible for producing and maintaining fire stopping and compartmentation drawings whilst also managing document control processes, quality management systems, compliance records and project documentation. Working closely with Contract Managers, Surveyors, Pre-Construction, Design, Quality and Project Teams, the role ensures that project drawings, compliance information and quality records remain accurate, traceable and fully compliant with company procedures, ISO 9001 requirements and BM TRADA accreditation standards. The role will be split approximately 50% CAD Technician duties and 50% Document Controller - Quality Assurance duties.

Main Duties:
CAD Technician Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for fire stopping and compartmentation works.
- Create compartmentation plans from survey information and architectural drawings.
- Prepare fire stopping detail drawings, penetration schedules and location plans.
- Amend and update construction drawings throughout project delivery.
- Produce accurate as-built drawings following completion of works.
- Interpret architectural, structural and M&E drawings to identify fire stopping requirements.
- Liaise with Contract Managers, Site Managers and Surveyors to resolve drawing queries.
- Attend site visits where required to verify dimensions and existing conditions.
- Maintain drawing registers and revision histories.
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, Building Regulations and relevant passive fire protection guidance.
Document Control & Quality Assurance Responsibilities:
- Establish, implement and maintain document control procedures in accordance with company standards and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Ensure all documents are version controlled, approved and traceable throughout their lifecycle.
- Maintain accuracy, integrity and confidentiality of project and compliance documentation.
- Support preparation and submission of documentation for Fire Stopping Installation, Fire Door Installation and Maintenance projects.
- Ensure documentation aligns with BM TRADA accreditation standards and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct documentation reviews and internal audits in line with ISO 9001 processes.
- Identify non-conformities, documentation gaps and compliance risks and support corrective actions.
- Maintain fully auditable records to support internal and external quality audits.
- Track document approvals, revisions and changes ensuring a complete audit trail.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across document control and quality processes.
- Prepare reports and document summaries for Contract Managers and Directors.
- Manage the Boris software system, including user administration, access controls and staff training.
- Maintain audit-ready records of SKEP and associated compliance documentation.

Person Specification:
- Minimum 2 years' experience using AutoCAD in a construction environment.
- Previous experience producing fire stopping or compartmentation drawings.
- Proven experience in a Document Controller or similar role within construction.
- Strong understanding of document control principles and quality management systems.
- Excellent understanding of technical construction drawings.
- Experience within passive fire protection, compartmentation or fire door projects.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations Approved Document B.
- Knowledge of BM TRADA certified schemes.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
