Draughtsperson / CAD Technician
Location: UK – Dartford
Department: CAD / Digital Engineering
About The Role
We are looking for a Draughtsperson / CAD Technician to join our team and play an important role in delivering major infrastructure and building projects across the UK.
Working closely with structural engineers and technicians, you will produce high-quality 2D drawings and 3D BIM models, supporting the design and delivery of temporary works and construction equipment.
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of technically challenging projects, developing your CAD and BIM skills while contributing to practical, safe and buildable engineering solutions.
The role is well suited to someone with experience in AutoCAD and CAD/BIM environments who is looking to develop their technical skills and career within a collaborative engineering team.
What You'll Be Doing
CAD & BIM
- Produce accurate and clearly presented 2D drawings, including layouts, general arrangements and detailed drawings.
- Develop and coordinate 3D BIM models using Revit, working with engineers and other disciplines.
- Convert 3D BIM models into clear, practical 2D drawings for use by project teams and construction sites.
- Develop models and drawings for temporary works and construction equipment.
- Support engineers in developing practical solutions to technical challenges.
- Follow project CAD standards, BIM Execution Plans and agreed drawing conventions.
- Manage drawing revisions and maintain accurate records throughout the project lifecycle.
Safety & Technical Information
- Work closely with engineers to ensure safety-critical information is clearly communicated through drawings and models.
- Produce construction sequence visuals and 3D visual method statements to support site teams.
- Prepare checklists for the erection, use and dismantling of temporary works where required.
- Keep up to date with relevant safety alerts, standards and technical requirements.

Project & Work Management
- Manage your own workload and prioritise tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Accurately track and record design work.
- Provide regular progress updates to the CAD Manager and project engineers.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, document control and other project teams.
- Issue drawings and models through project collaboration platforms such as Asite, Aconex and ProjectWise.
- Maintain organised project information in line with quality assurance and document control procedures.
Essential
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience producing technical drawings within an engineering or construction environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering information and produce clear, accurate drawings.
- Good understanding of steelwork and reinforced concrete structures.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
- Eligible to live and work in the UK.
Desirable
- Experience using Revit Structure.
- Experience working within a BIM environment.
- Knowledge of Bentley software and collaborative digital environments.
- Experience or awareness of temporary works systems, including formwork, falsework and shoring.
- Understanding of reinforced concrete detailing.
- Experience working with construction or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with document collaboration platforms such as Asite, Aconex or ProjectWise.
