CAD Technician (Fire Stopping & Compartmentation experience)

Office location: London
Project locations: London and Southeast
Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 DOE
Working Hours: Monday – Friday (8:00 am – 4:30 pm)

- Restoration: External mansion block repair schemes and internal common part refurbishment.
- Cladding remediation: Design and build contracts replacing combustible cladding to residential high-rise buildings.
- Fire compartmentation: Certified fire door installation, repair and maintenance, as well as compartmentation schemes and installation of fire detection and suppression systems.
We are looking for an experienced CAD Technician with a strong background in fire stopping and compartmentation to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who understands passive fire protection drawings and enjoys producing accurate technical information that supports successful project delivery.

The Role
You will be responsible for producing detailed 2D CAD drawings, compartmentation plans, fire stopping details, and as-built records for live construction projects. Working closely with Contract Managers, Surveyors, and Site Teams, you will ensure all drawings accurately reflect site conditions and comply with current fire safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for fire stopping and compartmentation works.
- Create compartmentation plans from survey information and architectural drawings.
- Prepare fire stopping detail drawings, penetration schedules, and location plans.
- Amend and update construction drawings throughout project delivery.
- Produce accurate as-built drawings following completion of works.
- Interpret architects', M&E, and structural drawings to identify fire stopping requirements.
- Liaise with Contract Managers, Site Managers, and Surveyors to resolve drawing queries.
- Maintain drawing registers and document control procedures.
- Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, Building Regulations, and relevant passive fire protection guidance.
- Attend site visits when required to verify dimensions and existing conditions.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience using AutoCAD in a construction environment.
- Previous experience producing fire stopping or compartmentation drawings.
- Excellent understanding of 2D technical drafting and construction detailing.
- Ability to read architectural, structural, and M&E drawings confidently.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within passive fire protection, fire doors, or compartmentation projects.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations Approved Document B.
- Understanding of FIA, ASFP, or passive fire protection guidance.
- Experience producing survey drawings from site mark-ups.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu or similar PDF mark-up software.
