The Role

As a CAD Technician, you will assist the Project Managers by producing As Laid designs and technical drawings using AutoCAD. You will work to the company policies and industry standards, whilst ensuring attention to detail in your drafting work.

You will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the Engineering roles with progression in to a technical role for the right candidates. You should be aware of, understand and comply with the company’s policies and procedures in respect to Health Safety Quality and Environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce as laid drawings from construction sketches and notes
  • Work within guidance of the company policies and BMS
  • Ensure own design work is carried out in line with NERS, GIRS & WIRS accreditations
  • Escalate problems in a timely manner to minimise business exposure
  • Maintain a record of CPD to enable learning and progression

Experience & Qualities

Essential

  • Experience of AutoCAD (2D only)
  • Accuracy of drafting work and attention to detail
  • Be technically minded and process driven
  • Professional, helpful attitude and ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written

Desirable:

  • Willingness to work towards formal qualifications in an electrical, gas or water discipline
  • Working knowledge of the utility industry
  • Ability to recognise gaps in own competencies, be it technical or soft skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise own workload in line with guidance from senior members of the team

  • Full Time, Permanent role
  • Monday - Friday 8:30am - 17:00pm (40 hours per week)
