The Role
Brackley, UK
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Offline CAD/CAM Programmer to join our Composite Machining Centre.
Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for creating and developing CNC machining programmes for a variety of tooling and composite applications, including tooling block, moulds, patterns, fixtures and carbon fibre components. The role requires the ability to convert complex CAD geometry into efficient and robust machining processes for multi-axis CNC machine tools.
Using Autodesk PowerMill, PowerShape and PowerInspect, you will work closely with Design, Manufacturing and Inspection teams to deliver high-quality components within demanding lead times.
Knowledge of multi-axis machining is essential, while experience within composite tooling, motorsport, aerospace or advanced manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
As a CAD/CAM programmer, you will:
- Create and optimise CNC machining programmes using Autodesk PowerMill.
- Generate machining strategies for tooling block, carbon fibre components, moulds, patterns and fixtures.
- Prepare, repair and modify CAD geometry using Autodesk PowerShape.
- Develop efficient roughing, semi-finishing and finishing strategies for complex surfaces.
- Produce digital setup/check sheets and manufacturing documentation for machinists.
- Verify machining processes through simulation and validation prior to release.
- Create offline probing routines using Autodesk PowerInspect for on-machine verification, datum setting, work offset control and dimensional validation.
- Liaise with Design, Inspection and Production teams to ensure manufacturing requirements are achieved.
- Implement engineering changes and continuously improve machining methods and programme efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of programming standards, templates and automation tools.
- Minimise machining cycle times whilst maintaining quality standards and component integrity.
- Ensure compliance with all company quality, health and safety procedures.

About You
Essential:
- Proven experience as an Offline CAD/CAM Programmer.
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk PowerMill or similar.
- Experience programming 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centres.
- Ability to work directly from complex 3D CAD models and drawings.
- Good understanding of machining principles, cutting tools and fixture design.
- Experience producing machining programmes for complex surfaces and high-accuracy components.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
Desirable:
- Experience with Autodesk PowerShape.
- Experience with Autodesk PowerInspect.
- Knowledge of composite tooling manufacture.
- Experience machining tooling board, epoxy tooling block, carbon fibre and composite materials.
- Experience programming large-format CNC machines.
- Macro development and CAM automation experience.
- Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing.
