Job Title: Café and Restaurant Team Member

Location: Doncaster

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent. 09:00-16:30, including weekends. 35-40 hours per week. The role will typically involve three weekday shifts focused on barista and table service, alongside two weekend shifts working on the hot food counter, including our Sunday carvery.

At Walkers Nurseries, our café is an important part of the customer experience. We pride ourselves on serving great food and drinks in a welcoming, friendly environment, whether customers are visiting us for a quick lunch, a coffee and cake, or a relaxed meal with family and friends.

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and versatile Café and Restaurant Team Member to join our team.

This is a varied role, with different responsibilities throughout the week. You’ll work across our hot food counter, Sunday carvery, barista station, and table service, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and being part of a busy hospitality environment.

The Role

As a Café and Restaurant Team Member, you will play an important role in delivering a high standard of food and customer service across the café.

Your working week will be varied. Two days at the weekend will focus primarily on serving customers from our hot food counter, including our Sunday carvery, while three weekdays will involve barista duties and table service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hot Food Counter: Serve customers efficiently and professionally from our hot food counter in a busy, canteen-style environment.
  • Sunday Carvery: Assist with our Sunday carvery, including serving and carving meat to customers.
  • Barista Service: Prepare and serve quality coffees and other hot and cold beverages to a consistently high standard.
  • Table Service: Provide friendly and attentive table service, taking orders and ensuring customers have an enjoyable dining experience.
  • Customer Service: Welcome customers warmly and provide helpful, attentive service throughout their visit.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, and personal presentation at all times.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with colleagues across the café and kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • General Café Duties: Assist with setting up, clearing tables, restocking, cleaning, and closing duties as required.
  • Standards: Help maintain the high standards of service and presentation expected at Walkers Nurseries.

What We Are Looking For

  • Hospitality Experience: Previous café, restaurant, or hospitality experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • Customer Focus: A friendly, approachable personality with a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • Versatility: Comfortable working across different areas of the café, from serving hot food to making coffee and providing table service.
  • Team Player: Reliable, positive, and willing to support colleagues during busy periods.
  • Professional: Well-presented, organized, and able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and service.
  • Willing to Learn: We provide training, so we are happy to consider candidates who are enthusiastic and keen to develop their hospitality skills.
  • Flexibility: Comfortable working weekends as part of a full-time rota, including Sundays.
