Café Shift Leader

Ready to take the lead?

We’re looking for a brilliant Café Shift Leader to join our Boston Tea Party team.

This is a great role for someone who loves the buzz of café life but is ready to take on a little more. You'll still be right in the middle of everything — making coffee, serving food, chatting to guests and getting stuck in — but you'll also be trusted to lead shifts, support the people around you and help keep the café running brilliantly.

For many of our people, this is their first step into leadership.

What you'll be doing

When you're leading a shift, you'll help set the tone. You'll make sure everyone knows what they're doing, our guests are looked after and the team keeps smiling — even when the queue is growing and every table suddenly seems to want something at once.

You'll:

  • Lead great shifts and keep the café running smoothly.
  • Set the energy and lead by example on the floor.
  • Make brilliant coffee, serve food and jump in wherever you're needed.
  • Make sure every guest gets a warm Boston welcome.
  • Support and coach the people working alongside you.
  • Help new Good Eggs settle in and learn the ropes.
  • Keep an eye on café standards throughout your shift.
  • Take ownership when something doesn't quite go to plan.
  • Complete opening, closing and other shift responsibilities.
  • Work closely with your café management team and keep communication flowing.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who we're looking for

You might already have some experience as a Shift Leader or Supervisor. Or you could be a brilliant Barista or hospitality team member who's ready to step up for the first time.

You don't need to arrive as a fully formed manager. We're looking for someone who's dependable, confident with people and excited about developing their leadership skills.

You'll be someone who:

  • Fuels Growth: You want to keep learning and you're starting to enjoy helping other people get better too. You're curious about how the whole café works, not just your own role within it.
  • Leads Responsibly: People can rely on you. You notice what needs doing, take ownership and stay calm when things get busy.
  • Makes Connections: You bring people together. You communicate well with your team, make guests feel welcome and understand that a brilliant shift comes from everyone working together.

What's in it for you?

This could be the beginning of something much bigger. We'll help you learn how to lead a shift, coach others, make decisions and understand more about how a successful café operates.

And if leadership is where you want to go, there's a clear path ahead.

Café Shift Leader → Assistant Manager → General Manager.

You'll get plenty of support and development along the way, as well as a great package of Boston benefits and the advantage of daytime hospitality without the late-night finishes.

Or perhaps you love being part of café life and simply want a little more responsibility without becoming a manager. That's absolutely fine too. There's more than one way to grow at Boston.

Good Eggs Only

We've been doing things a little differently since 1995. We care about great coffee, great food and brilliant hospitality — but it's our people who bring all of that to life.

We're looking for people who notice when a teammate needs help, remember a regular's order and aren't afraid to roll their sleeves up when things get busy.

You don't need a big job title to be a leader. Sometimes leadership starts with simply being the person others know they can rely on.

Think you're ready? Come and take the lead with us.
