What you’ll be responsible for

Supervising the kitchen and restaurant areas to ensure excellent customer service is delivered whilst maintaining a safe environment for all persons on site.

This will include:

  • On average one day per week, fulfil the role of Duty Manager, taking lead responsibility for coordination of the entire site as part of the wider management team.
  • Ensuring the Health and Safety of all visitors and customers using the facilities of the site, providing an active part in monitoring safety, ensuring all records are kept up to date and all incidents and accidents are recorded in line with the required company procedures.
  • With the Cafe Manager order all kitchen and stock for resale supplies from approved suppliers.
  • Maintaining upkeep of all kitchen HACCP records at all times and to the required standard.
  • Preparing, cooking and serving meals, managing and organising café assistants to deliver high quality customer service.
  • Supervising and identifying training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Striving to develop and improve the customer experience offering. Ensuring the service in the café and retail area is maintained to a high standard.
  • Engaging with customers as an ambassador of Welsh Water.
  • Maintaining the food hygiene standards, upkeep and tidiness of the kitchen, retail and restaurant areas in accordance with Welsh Water Food safety procedures.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required by the Cafe Manager to meet the needs of the business.
  • Supporting the recruitment of Café assistants and managing the training and induction requirements of all new colleagues to ensure that they are fully competent to work both on and off centre.
  • Deputising for the Cafe Manager in their absence.
  • Taking the role of Duty Manager on a schedule with other key team members.

About you

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • Current Food Hygiene Level 3 minimum certification
  • Satisfactory DBS check

Experience

  • Practical health & safety and food safety experience in a visitor attraction or retail or restaurant environment
  • Experience working with the general public

Knowledge & Skills

  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
  • Commercial catering and kitchen supervisory experience
  • Catering/Retail customer service knowledge or specialism
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English

Working Pattern

This role is contracted to 29.6 hours per week, worked over four days, with 7.4 hours per day, year-round.

The four working days can be fixed and agreed in advance and we offer flexibility to accommodate individual needs, subject to business requirements. The role requires availability to work school holdiays, weekends and bank holidays, with an expectation of working approximately one day each weekend on average. Additional flexibility may be required during particularly busy operational periods.

Where additional hours are worked beyond contracted requirements, employees will be entitled to time off in lieu (TOIL) in accordance with company procedures.
