Salary: £27,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Role
We are looking for a Calibration Technician to join our laboratory team at our Great Dunmow headquarters. This is a hands-on role involving the calibration, testing, and maintenance of a wide range of precision instrumentation used in environmental monitoring. Working within our calibration laboratory, you will ensure equipment is calibrated in accordance with relevant standards and documented accurately. You will also assist with troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and maintaining the high standards required within our UKAS-accredited laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and more complex calibrations on a variety of instruments and test equipment.
- Set up and operate laboratory equipment safely and efficiently.
- Record, verify, and document calibration results accurately.
- Maintain traceability of measurements in line with quality procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults and measurement discrepancies.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment and facilities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet turnaround times and customer expectations.
- Ensure compliance with UKAS-accredited procedures and company quality standards.

About You
We're looking for someone who is methodical, technically minded, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
You will ideally have:
- Experience carrying out calibration of instruments and test equipment.
- Strong laboratory skills, including safe equipment handling and precise measurement techniques.
- Knowledge of instrumentation principles and precision measurement devices.
- The ability to diagnose faults and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
- The ability to follow technical procedures and quality documentation accurately.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a laboratory environment.
- Experience working with meters, sensors, analysers, or other equipment used in noise, vibration, or environmental monitoring (desirable).
- A relevant technical qualification, such as an apprenticeship, vocational qualification, HNC/HND, or degree in Engineering, Physics, Electronics, or a related discipline (desirable).
- Previous experience in a calibration laboratory or an electronics-related role would be advantageous.
