Role Description
This is a freelance role for an on-site Camera Operator in London on Saturday 19th September 2026. Hours are likely to be 3pm - 10pm that will be confirmed after discussions on availability.
The Camera Operator will set up, operate, and adjust a single camera during a segment of a live theatre show, displaying the live feed on the projector screen on stage. This will be for a one-off live podcast show in East London, capturing high-quality live footage in line with the company’s vision. Tasks include coordinating with both the production and in-house venue technical staff on the day, framing and tracking audience members, responding to live cues, and ensuring smooth transitions between shots. The role also involves checking and maintaining camera equipment, collaborating on lighting and staging considerations, and adhering to health and safety guidelines throughout the day of the show rehearsal and the performance. We will consider self-shooters including the hire of their personal equipment during the shift in addition to their fee, or advising on the equipment hire needed in order to best execute the artistic team’s ideas.

Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Camera Operation and Camera handling for live performance environments, or relevant training, certification, or professional experience in film, television, or media production.
- Candidates should possess practical knowledge of Lighting to work effectively with stage and technical teams for optimal image quality.
- Experience in live theatre, comedy, or event production, particularly in fast-paced, cue-driven settings, is beneficial.
- Ability to follow direction, work collaboratively with artistic and technical teams, and maintain focus during the performance.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and adherence to safety practices when working with technical equipment and in a busy theatre.
