Join our church media team in Thamesmead and operate one of our cameras during Sunday services. Help capture clear, engaging shots of worship, preaching and other service activities for our livestream and recordings.
What difference will you make?
Good camera operation is essential to producing an engaging and professional livestream.
Our church uses cameras and livestreaming to allow people who cannot attend physically to participate in services and to create recorded content that can be shared online.
Having dedicated Camera Operators would allow each camera to be properly controlled rather than relying on a small number of team members to manage several technical responsibilities simultaneously.
This would help us
- Improve the visual quality of our livestreams.
- Capture worship, preaching and other activities more effectively.
- Provide the Video Switcher Operator with better shots to choose from.
- Reduce pressure on our existing technical team.
- Produce higher-quality recordings for future online and social-media use.
- Improve the experience of people watching our services remotely.
- Make better use of the video equipment already available to the church.
The volunteer would make a direct and visible contribution to the quality of our Sunday broadcasts.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is reliable, observant, visually aware and comfortable operating technical equipment in a live environment.

The ideal volunteer will have
- Relevant professional experience in video production, camera operation, broadcasting, photography, live events, AV or a related field.
- Practical experience using video cameras.
- A good understanding of framing and composition.
- An ability to follow moving subjects smoothly.
- Awareness of when to use wide, medium and close-up shots.
- Basic understanding of focus, zoom and exposure.
- Good concentration and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow direction from a live-production or video-switching operator.
- Ability to remain calm when activity changes unexpectedly.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine willingness and dedication to learn.
Applicants do not need to know our exact camera system from day one.
We particularly welcome people who are technically curious, willing to practise and committed to learning our equipment and production methods.
Previous Church Experience Is Not Required.
What will you be doing?
Royal Priesthood Pentecostal Church (UK) is looking for reliable and skilled Camera Operators to join our media team during Sunday services and selected special events.
We currently operate a two-camera setup and are looking for volunteers who can each take responsibility for operating one camera during live services.

The volunteer will be responsible for
- Operating one of our video cameras during Sunday services.
- Following the preacher, worship leaders, singers and other activity taking place during the service.
- Maintaining clear and appropriate framing and composition.
- Adjusting zoom, focus and camera position when required.
- Producing steady and visually engaging shots for the livestream.
- Listening to or following direction from the Video Switcher/Vision Mixer Operator.
- Anticipating activity and preparing suitable shots before they are required.
- Checking the camera and video feed before the service begins.
- Identifying and reporting basic camera, cabling or video-signal problems.
- Working alongside the other camera operator, video switcher operator, broadcast operator and sound team.
- Assisting with camera and AV testing before services.
Sunday operation is the main part of the role.
Because we operate from a hired school venue, our media and AV equipment must be set up before services. We would therefore, if possible, also value volunteers who can attend on Saturday afternoons, normally from approximately 2:00–3:00 PM onwards, to help with setup, connection and testing.
