Role Overview
Are you a Social Worker experienced in working with children and adolescents with mental health difficulties and their families? Are you interested in working in CAMHS and developing clinical experience within a fast-paced CAMH Eating Disorders team?
An exciting opportunity has become available for a skilled and experienced Band 7 (1.0 WTE) CAMH Social Worker to work in the Tri-borough CAMHS Eating Disorders team, based at Ealing CAMHS 1 Armstrong Way, Southall UB2 4SA.
About the Role
The CAMH Social Worker will support the provision of highly specialist social work services to young people and their families and/or carers referred to CAMHS. This could include providing outreach work to patients who may find it difficult to attend clinics and in-reach work into Tier 4 Services. They will carry out comprehensive assessments (including risk assessments and the development of risk management plans) and offer specialist intervention packages using a variety of treatment models.
The CAMH Social Worker will also contribute to our dynamic and growing CAMH Social Work professional discipline structure. As such, they will receive regular social work supervision, in addition to clinical supervision within their team. They will be encouraged to join our monthly CAMH Social Work Forum and Reflective Practice Groups. Key Responsibilities
- Adopt a flexible approach to working with young people, their families and networks, taking account of changing needs during the course of intervention, assessing and attending to issues of risk.
- Be part of a duty system, which may include providing specialist, advice guidance and consultation to other professionals as well as parents and carers.
- Undertake comprehensive, specialist assessments on behalf of the multidisciplinary team, incorporating different models of understanding of the young person’s difficulties and reflecting the team’s multi-modal approach to intervention.
- Take Clinical Case Lead responsibility in the treatment of complex cases, attending to risk and arranging network/professional reviews, where clinically appropriate. This will include liaison with other appropriate services and managing planned transitions, including admissions into inpatient, when required.
- Formulate and implement plans for the treatment and/or management of the child/young person’s problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
- Run clinical groups and focus groups with both parents/carers and young people.
