CAMHS Consultant
Location: New Southgate, London
Working pattern: 3 days per week

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate CAMHS Consultant to join a growing child and adolescent mental health service based in New Southgate, London. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician looking for a flexible, part-time role within a specialist child mental health setting.
The successful candidate will provide face-to-face clinical assessments and follow-up appointments for children and young people presenting with a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.
Key Areas of Assessment
The role will involve assessing children and young people presenting with:
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Anxiety
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Depression
- Other child and adolescent mental health presentations within your clinical expertise
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive face-to-face CAMHS assessments.
- Take detailed clinical, developmental, and family histories.
- Assess and formulate presentations within your professional scope of practice.
- Provide appropriate diagnostic opinions and recommendations.
- Provide clear and sensitive feedback to children, young people, and their families.
- Conduct follow-up appointments where clinically appropriate.
- Produce high-quality clinical reports and maintain accurate clinical records.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, schools, and other professionals where appropriate.
- Work within professional, ethical, safeguarding, and clinical governance frameworks.
- Contribute positively to a multidisciplinary clinical environment.

Appointment Structure
- Initial Assessment: 1.5 hours
- Follow-up Appointment: 20 minutes
Working Pattern
3 days per week, based in New Southgate, London. The role is predominantly face-to-face and would suit a Consultant looking for a regular part-time commitment within a specialist child and adolescent mental health service.
Remuneration
Competitive rates, to be discussed with the successful candidate.
About You
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced CAMHS Consultant who is passionate about working with children, young people, and their families. You will ideally have:
- Significant experience working within CAMHS or child and adolescent mental health.
- Experience assessing children and young people with ADHD, ASD, and a range of mental health conditions.
- Appropriate professional registration and qualifications for the role.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills within your professional scope of practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A thorough understanding of safeguarding and working with children and young people.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider clinical team.
- A professional, compassionate, and child-centred approach.
