The Opportunity

This role, which will report to the Head of Marketing, will work across the Defence sector, will focus on campaign management and execution for our products which include live events, membership, directory, and jobs.

The ideal candidate will be outcomes focused, be able to balance strategy with execution, and enjoy working in a fast-moving environment where your work directly drives impact.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role with ownership across product campaigns and conversion. You’ll work closely with the wider marketing and content teams to ensure we’re converting attention and engagement from high-quality prospects into purchases. This role will own the campaign strategy for specific products and will be accountable for driving audience quality and conversion across their campaigns.

Candidate

The Campaign Manager will play a key role across the Defence sector (with focus on DSEI Gateway and the Apex events). This role will create and manage the campaign strategy for each product which will allow the marketing team to hit their goals. The ideal candidate will be a marketing all-rounder with leadership abilities and a proven track record of delivering growth.

Reporting into the Head of Marketing, they’ll work alongside the marketing team to deliver the marketing objectives across their products. The ideal candidate will know how to manage their role as the campaign evolves. They can focus on the “big picture” when developing the campaign plans; to manage and focus the team on campaign delivery as well as being able to provide status updates and recommendations for campaign adjustments.

They will be analytical, and data orientated with a history of testing and campaign optimization, but with creative flair and exceptional attention to detail. They will enjoy a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and have experience managing agencies, freelancers, and team members that they don’t directly manage.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Plan

  • Creating (with support from the Head of Marketing) and managing the campaign plans - driving acquisition and retention in key segments to achieve our business goals across events and digital products.
  • Effectively communicating and presenting the campaign plans, strategies, and updates throughout the cycle to the team and stakeholders.

Campaign Delivery & Optimization

  • Accountable for delivery of the campaign plans – effectively briefing, managing, and optimizing the output of the internal team and external resources (including agencies and freelancers).
  • Writing and proofreading any copy for promotional materials - ensuring all brand and style guides are adhered to.
  • Ensuring all promotional marketing materials created are tailored towards our key avatars/personas.

Data-Driven

  • Use business intelligence, customer feedback, and insight to suggest and implement new campaign ideas.
  • Owning all the marketing reporting from weekly reporting of event KPIs, forecasts to post event reports that deliver insight, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Managing the product marketing budget with support from the Head of Marketing.
  • Identify key industry trends, innovations, or technologies that can drive growth.

Customer-Centric

  • Ensuring that all campaign plans and deliverables are heavily influenced by customer data, research, and feedback.
  • Continued learning (and more importantly, implementing that learning!) about the Defence industry and marketing through attending events, reading, listening to podcasts, and webinars.

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours

  • Excellent knowledge of best practice across email, social media, paid media, landing pages, websites, and chatbots (ideally with depth knowledge in 2 – 3 channels).
  • Excellent direct response copywriter and copy editor.
  • Experience creating and delivering campaigns across multiple marketing channels.
  • Exceptional project management skills – organized, proactive, and able to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of marketing performance metrics and optimization tactics.
  • Excellent communicator – great verbal and written communications skills that can translate campaign strategies in a simple way to a range of stakeholders and team members.
  • Obsessed with feedback – we love to continuously learn and develop, and being able to deliver and receive feedback is a critical skill in our team.
  • Be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills - driven to understand “why” and takes the initiative to identify trends and gaps.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize relevant tasks.
  • Experience with marketing technology including email marketing automation, CRM, social media management, website analytics, chatbots, and more.
  • Excellent ability to work with data sets, interpret trends, and provide analysis and recommendations based on data that support our goals.
  • Proven ability to learn new tools and software quickly and independently.
  • Highly proactive, initiating attitude – able to take prompt action to accomplish objectives and goals, with the energy and tenacity to address bottlenecks and barriers.
