About Think-Film
Think-Film is a world-leading strategic consultancy working at the intersection of film, culture and social change. Our films have won awards, saved lives, championed democratic freedoms, and protected the environment for future generations. Read more at https://tfip.org/
Life at Think-Film is exceptionally varied. We are a small, ambitious and entrepreneurial organisation. That means everyone has meaningful responsibility, sees how their work contributes to the whole, and has the opportunity to make a much bigger contribution than their job title might suggest.
About The Role
We are selecting a cohort of up to 5 exceptional candidates for an intensive 3-month training and development programme, designed to identify and develop the next generation of Think-Film talent. Interns will receive hands-on support, undertake a range of tasks, and receive regular feedback. At the end of the period, we expect to offer ongoing roles to a maximum 2 interns. There is no guarantee that any intern will be offered a position.
Selection for an ongoing role will be based on the full range of qualities we value: exceptional work, intellectual curiosity, judgement, resilience, teamwork, kindness and generosity, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. We are looking for fast, efficient learners, who get stuck in and get things done.
What The Role Involves
You will work hands-on across the full life of our impact campaigns, transforming high-quality independent films into projects involving policy, advocacy & social change. You will be involved from the first piece of research through to result delivery - supporting strategy development, helping create written and designed visual materials, and step by step actually making things happen.
On any given day, that might include:
- Preparing a meeting brief
- Finding stakeholder contacts
- Arranging a client call
- Drafting an outreach email
- Building a strategic action plan
- Coordinating screening event logistics
- Designing a media asset
There is no exhaustive list of tasks, because our impact campaigns are fast-moving and every project is different. A big part of the job is absorbing information, being responsive to team needs, and jumping in. Sometimes that will mean taking ownership of a substantial piece of work; sometimes it will mean doing a small but essential task quickly and brilliantly.
What We Expect From You
- Capably manage your own workload: You will be involved in multiple simultaneous projects, with competing priorities and deadlines. From day one you must excel at personal organisation.
- Solve problems and take initiative within delegated authority: You need to have common sense, respond to problems with ideas, and help us avoid or manage crises. Where challenges arise, you will be expected to think through situations, develop options, and take action. Within reason, you should be ready and willing to make independent decisions and own them.
- Communicate well: You will engage directly with a wide range of stakeholders. You should be able to build rapport, tell a compelling story about the work, and adapt your approach to the person in front of you.
- Research with a purpose: You will conduct research into a wide range of human rights and social justice issues. We expect you to turn information into actionable intelligence; to think about and strategically apply what you discover to create opportunities.
- Work as part of a high-performing team: This means sharing information, helping colleagues solve problems, asking for help when you need it, offering help when you can, taking responsibility, and celebrating collective success.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We're Looking For
Perhaps you have:
- Run complex legal or social welfare casework with 20+ active files
- Coordinated a large, cross-spectrum coalition
- Got thousands of people to buy a ticket, or sign a petition for something
- Worked in a fast-moving environment such as politics, policy, advocacy, or sales
- Delivered a complex event from the ground up
- Repeatedly found yourself being the person who best understood the brief and could see the path to making things happen - and then got stuck in and did the work
You are probably someone who is naturally curious, can tell a good story, loves a puzzle, looks out for the people around you, understands that different people require different approaches, works hard even when no-one is watching, has a passion hobby, is trustworthy and reliable, reads and thinks about things going on in different parts of the world, instinctively looks for ways to make things better, takes pride in being able to say “I made that happen”.
Why Work at Think-Film

We invest heavily in our people through training, mentoring, responsibility, and opportunity. In return, we are looking for people who care deeply about those who are poor, suffering, disadvantaged and exploited, and who wake up every day willing to get in the arena, contribute their best effort, and stretch what they are capable of.

How To Apply & Next Steps
Look at our website and social media. Think about who we are and what we want. Then send us your CV and a 1-3 minute video that tells us who you are and why you would make an exceptional Think-Filmer.
A documentary filmmaker has approached Think-Film to inquire about our impact services. You are tasked to watch their film (assume we have a confidential screener link), conduct top-level research on the issue/s it raises, and produce a concise briefing for our CEO & COO so they can decide whether this is one the company should take on. How would you go about this task? What questions would you consider? What research sites or tools would you use? How would you structure the brief? What information/content would you include?
We want to write to the UK Ambassador to the UN in Geneva to ask them to host a screening of our film “iHuman” in the framework of the upcoming Human Rights Council. Please draft an email.
You’re working on an impact deck that we’ve promised to deliver asap - you think it needs maybe an hour’s more work - when you receive an urgent message from another team member. They seem panicked. They tell you that a cinema we'd planned to use for a screening event in NYC in 2 days’ time just cancelled on us. Communications about the event have gone out, speakers are flying in, and we have around 100 confirmed guests. They ask for your help. How do you respond? What do you do? What solution options could you suggest? What are all the steps that would need to happen for the event to run as planned?
You’re tasked to put slides together for a high-profile industry keynote. This will be to an audience of major studios, producers, and distributors that could become our clients. We need a short, compelling, visual presentation that introduces Think-Film and showcases who we are, what we do, our most impressive results, what we offer that is unique and exceptional, and why people in the audience should hire us. You can use Canva or any other tool.
Send your answers by 09.00 GMT, 27 October 2026 to Amy Shepherd, COO : ashepherd@tfip.org
If there's anything else we should know (e.g. accessibility needs), please include this in your email. All personal information will be kept confidential. Next rounds for invited candidates will include a project-based task and CEO/COO interview.
