Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the College as a Campus Assistant/Driver, supporting the safety, security and operational effectiveness of our campuses whilst providing driving and campus support services for staff and students.
The post-holder will act as a keyholder, opening and securing buildings, responding to incidents and alarms, and helping to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for campus users. The role also includes driving College minibuses to support student trips and visits, including aiding learners who may have additional support needs.
This role combines evening campus support with daytime driving duties:
- Monday and Wednesday evenings: 5.30pm to 9.00pm
- One daytime shift per week, being Thursday, to support educational trips and outings
- Total: 12 hours per week.
Closing date 13 October 2026, with interviews being held on 21 October 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a visible and professional presence during evening community activities.
- Opening, securing and monitoring campus facilities.
- Responding appropriately to alarms, incidents and requests for assistance.
- Welcoming and assisting students, staff, visitors and community partners where appropriate.
- Driving college minibuses and vehicles to support educational visits, trips and events.
- Assisting with practical campus operations, events and room set-ups as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
- Driving licence
- Demonstrable knowledge of:
- Building security
- Safe driving principles
- Awareness of security procedures and health and safety requirements
- Awareness of customer service principles
- Understanding of basic safeguarding responsibilities when working with students and vulnerable individuals
- Awareness of emergency procedures and incident reporting processes
- Knowledge of safe manual handling practices
- Understanding of vehicle safety checks and reporting defects
- Ability to:
- Undertake relevant training including First Aid, MIDAS (if required), safeguarding and health and safety training
- Undertake keyholding and building opening/closing procedures
- Work evenings to support College events and activities.
- Support the safe transportation arrangements for students during off campus visits and activities
- Work appropriately and empathetically with people who may have additional support needs
- Be well organised and diligent in following agreed processes and procedures
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, students and visitors
- Ability to use digital systems, including email and Microsoft Office applications, to share information and record work activities where required
- Respond calmly and appropriately to incidents, emergencies and requests for assistance

- Driving as part of a job
