Business Unit / Role Specific Info

At American Express, we empower future technologists to learn, innovate, and make an impact from day one. As an Associate Digital Product Management Intern in Enterprise Technology Services, you’ll join a 10-week Summer Internship Program and contribute to product, platform, and delivery initiatives that help shape seamless customer and colleague experiences.

Product Management interns sit at the intersection of business, technology, data, design, delivery, and customer experience. In this role, you’ll help teams understand customer needs, document requirements, prioritize work, track delivery outcomes, manage risks and dependencies, and support Agile planning activities that help technology teams deliver value responsibly and at enterprise scale.

You’ll collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, Data Analysts, Architects, Delivery Leads, and business partners to learn how products and technology initiatives are envisioned, built, launched, measured, governed, and continuously improved.

About the Team

Enterprise Technology Services teams build and support technology that enables trusted, secure, and customer-first experiences across American Express. Product and delivery teams help define strategy, prioritize investments, coordinate execution, and improve delivery practices across digital products, platforms, internal tools, developer experiences, AI enabled capabilities, and enterprise technology solutions.

As a Product Management Intern, you’ll contribute at an early-career level while learning how modern product teams balance customer needs, business outcomes, technical feasibility, delivery execution, operational resilience, and responsible innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What type of work can you expect? How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Support Product Managers and delivery teams in defining, refining, and prioritizing product requirements, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and support documentation.
  • Assist with customer discovery, stakeholder interviews, user research activities, usability testing, and analysis of feedback to help inform product decisions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, analytics, risk, security, operations, and business teams to support product delivery and technology initiatives.
  • Support Agile Release Train, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies with guidance from peers and leaders.
  • Monitor risks, dependencies, capacity considerations, and impediments to delivery; escalate issues that may require decisions or support from senior product, delivery, or engineering leaders.
  • Facilitate or document technical discussions related to architectural approach, system design, roadmap tradeoffs, delivery readiness, and implementation planning.
  • Create, consolidate, and analyze portfolio, release train, product, and team-level metrics to provide insights into delivery progress, execution quality, risks, and key decisions needed.
  • Support product and engineering teams in building implementation roadmaps, managing cross-functional dependencies, and preparing leadership updates on delivery status.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, redesign process flows, strengthen documentation practices, and support continuous learning across teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
