About Global Supply Management:
Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for partnering with Amex colleagues to optimize their third-party spend. The team provides strategic consultation to the business while providing end-to-end procurement services. It maximizes the purchasing power of the Company to drive the best value from its supplier base which then frees-up investment capacity for the Enterprise. GSM, together with its business partners, manages the supplier strategy for the Company: identifying and on-boarding new third-party suppliers, realizing significant cost savings, and generating value through collaboration with GCS and GMNS.
About The Role
As an Analyst within Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement (SS&BE) at American Express, you’ll support the delivery of the most effective strategy for achieving maximum value for American Express with our supply base, through the sourcing and contracting process. You will also support procurement managers to develop global category management plans to meet business objectives, understand spend profiles, leverage and complete industry benchmarking and prepare presentations and dashboards for internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to one of the UK Managers, you’ll be accountable for the cost-effective procurement of, and contract execution for, a wide range of products and services - whilst achieving or exceeding business requirements.
- Implement contracting strategies including the development and execution of sourcing activities (Request for Information, Request for Proposal).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to identify opportunities where we can drive cost saves across the category.
- Drive value and competitive advantage to our business partners through effective supplier negotiations.
- Review and identify supplier risk, working with Third Party Risk Management teams and business stakeholders to support strong supplier governance.
- Manage the execution of contracts in line with required policies, standards, and processes.
- Drive results cross-functionally, and across business units, that have a major impact on American Express’ revenue and profitability.
- Work closely with Governance Teams and support projects that enables the team to remain aligned with changing legal and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring policy and contract compliance in all contracting projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
