Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
The University Security Team plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. The team provides a wide range of services including crime prevention, patrols, emergency response, building security, fire response, traffic and car parking management, event security and support to students living in University accommodation.
The role is based primarily at the City and Coach Lane Campuses, with staff also providing security and emergency response cover across other University locations, including Halls of Residence and other University premises as required.
The role operates on a night-shift pattern, including weekends, bank holidays and University closure periods. There may also be opportunities for overtime, with flexibility required to respond to changing operational needs.

About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a positive and proactive approach, and the ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations. You will be expected to work effectively as part of a team while also using your initiative and sound judgement when responding to incidents and supporting the wider University community.

To Be Successful In The Role, You Will Have
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor License
- Full UK driving licence (Manual or Auto accepted)
- Experience dealing with First Aid (First Aid at Work Certificate desirable)
- Be part of a Fire Response Team
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to provide and compile concise reports
