Cancer MDT Coordinator
Band 4 | 37.5 hours per week | 6-month fixed-term contract
Location: Wexham Park Hospital

Join our friendly and dedicated Cancer Services team at Frimley Park Hospital, where you will play a vital role in helping patients navigate their cancer care journey, ensuring they receive timely, coordinated and effective care.
Our busy Cancer Services department works closely with tumour-specific Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) to support patients from referral through to treatment. As a Cancer Pathway Coordinator, you will be at the heart of this process, helping to ensure patients progress through their care pathways within nationally agreed timescales.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive individual who enjoys working collaboratively, solving problems and making a positive impact.
You will take responsibility for tracking and coordinating patients throughout their cancer pathways, proactively identifying potential delays and working with clinical teams to resolve issues promptly.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for documenting and monitoring patients’ cancer pathways to ensure accurate information is entered into the Cancer Tracking Database (Somerset Cancer Register), read and interpret clinic letters to determine patients’ next steps, and escalate any delays in the pathways. Attending MDT and PTL meetings. Recording MDT outcomes as required. Provide cover to other MDT Co-Ordinators during periods of annual leave. This post does not have any line management or budgetary responsibility. The post holder will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team’s (MDT’s) to ensure Cancer patient and carer experience is central to every stage of the patient journey. The post holder will ensure the MDT meetings run effectively, are well structured, all cancer patients discussed and the whole patient journey recorded on Somerset Cancer Register, including Cancer meetings.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in an office or similar environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience of using Video Conferencing Equipment
- Healthcare sector experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE English and Maths pass or equivalent.
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- European Computer Driving License (ECDL).
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
- Microsoft Office skills (including, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent database, IT and typing skills.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of process mapping.
- Knowledge of in-house Somerset Cancer Register as well as ICE, CRIS etc.
