Hybrid working arrangement: 3 days per week on site (based on full time hours)

We are looking for a Capability Lead with significant experience within Programme Management to join our (UWS) Underwater Systems business area to support on Anti-Submarine Warfare.

You will be responsible for shaping the Thales Airborne ASW strategy and approach in addressing the innovative and growing needs of Airborne ASW in terms of both technology and delivery methodology in close collaboration with the customer ensuring technical alignment and requirements derivation through to acceptance in an airborne environment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide the technical link to safety within an airborne environment which is unique for UWS UK.
  • Interpret and translate customer requirements and operational needs into clear technical and programmatic solutions for proposal development.
  • Be visionary, inspire, motivate and be agile in an uncertain environment.
  • Provide authoritative knowledge in Airborne ASW systems, including sensors, platforms and mission systems.
  • Advise on system integration, interoperability and operational effectiveness.
  • Guide Thales Merlin ASW team whilst taking key stakeholders (DE&S, LM, Leonardo, NCHQ and suppliers) on this exciting and unique growth journey and support senior level engagements on extant contracts and new business.
  • Lead and manage the Team to define and execute a winning strategy.
  • Own and present the business case at each milestone to Management (Gates, Senior Management & Codir meetings).
  • Apply and drive the appropriate Bid process (Bid tailoring) with the support of the Bid manager.

Experience & Skills:

You will have significant experience delivering service programmes within a complex, matrix, global environment together with the following:

  • Significant experience shaping and executing a strategic plan.
  • Ability to guide, inspire a diverse group of individuals.
  • Proven experience and highly competent managing multi-million-pound budgets including management and controls.

Under Water Systems (UWS)

Our purpose is to be the leading provider of underwater sensors and decision superiority, helping navies across the world keep our friends, families and all of us safe. We cover four sectors: Mine Counter Measures, Anti-Submarine warfare, Services and Future Capabilities.

Security Clearance Requirement:

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
