Salary Range: $122,216 to $135,125 (pending experience) + 12.75% superannuation paid as per the Catholic Education Executive Salary Scale

Your Role
Applications are invited for the full-time continuing position of Capital Accountant, based in Rockhampton, commencing as soon as possible.
The successful applicant will provide specialist leadership and expertise in the financial stewardship of capital resources across Catholic Education - Diocese of Rockhampton. Working closely with school leaders, project managers and diocesan staff, they will oversee the effective financial management of capital works, fixed assets and funding arrangements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and diocesan policies while contributing to the delivery of strategic capital initiatives.
The successful applicant will contribute to informed decision-making and strong financial governance by maintaining accurate capital records, providing timely financial analysis and supporting the planning and monitoring of capital projects. Through collaboration, sound financial expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement, they will help strengthen asset management practices, optimise capital funding arrangements and enhance the sustainability of educational facilities and infrastructure across the Diocese.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to influence strategic capital outcomes and support the continued growth and development of Catholic education communities throughout the region.
Typical Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Advise on capital expenditure planning, including the development, review and monitoring of business cases and capital projects in progress;
- Apply Australian accounting standards to assess and appropriately allocate expenditure between capital and operating costs;
- Liaise with school leadership, project managers and diocesan staff to monitor project progress, cash flow requirements and funding timelines;
- Administer CEDR capital funding arrangements, including loan management, system support and capital grant funding;
- Manage the CEDR capital reserve including contribution levy collection, balance forecasting, and eligibility assessing for support;
- Maintain the integrity of all CEDR fixed asset registers through data discipline, data standardisation, and robust internal controls and regular validation processes;
- Perform other selected duties as directed by the Assistant Director: Business and Strategy and the Finance Manager.

About You
The successful applicant will hold a degree in accounting, business or equivalent, have relevant experience and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the values of Catholic Education. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills, well developed interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of computer skills.
CA or CPA member is highly desirable. Experience in asset and project management is preferable.

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
- Current Driver's Licence
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
- Australian work rights
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton
