The Role

We are looking for an experienced Capital Markets Lawyer to join a London-based Capital Markets Legal team on a long-term contract. The successful candidate will provide legal and transactional support across the Capital Markets business, working on new products, strategic initiatives and complex cross-border transactions. The role offers significant international exposure, supporting Capital Markets teams across London, New York, Frankfurt, Paris and Dubai.

This is a hands-on position requiring someone comfortable taking ownership of complex matters while working closely with regional and country Legal, Compliance and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Capital Markets-related legal advice in connection with new products, transactions and wider Capital Markets initiatives.
  • Provide transactional legal support to Capital Markets businesses across Western regions, including London, New York, Frankfurt, Paris and Dubai.
  • Act as lead lawyer on complex, multi-jurisdictional Capital Markets transactions.
  • Collaborate with relevant regional and country Heads of Legal to provide coordinated and seamless legal support to the business.
  • Support the wider Capital Markets Legal team and business stakeholders working across Capital Markets.
  • Review, advise on and help promote a clear understanding of Capital Markets documentation across business teams.
  • Identify potential legal and reputational risks and develop practical approaches to mitigate those risks.
  • Work closely with country Legal and Compliance teams on local legal and regulatory matters.
  • Manage external counsel where required, ensuring the scope of work is appropriate and clearly defined.
  • Oversee the quality and delivery of external legal advice while managing legal costs and ensuring effective matter management.

Experience & Requirements

The successful candidate should have:

  • Minimum 3–4 years’ PQE.
  • Strong experience within Capital Markets and related transactional legal work.
  • Experience advising on complex and ideally cross-border/multi-jurisdictional transactions.
  • Strong understanding of Capital Markets documentation and associated legal and regulatory considerations.
  • Ability to work effectively with front-office/business stakeholders, Legal and Compliance teams.
  • Experience coordinating with lawyers and stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to identify and manage legal and reputational risk.
  • Ability to independently manage transactions and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
