Role
This is a great opportunity for someone to sit in our capital modelling team, supporting our market-leading syndicates.
Description
Capital Modelling
Provide support to the capital modelling team in their roles of:
- Calculation of Solvency capital requirements (SCR)
- Reporting of SCRs within internal governance structure and to Lloyd’s
- Ensuring that the data feeding the capital model is kept accurate and up to date
- Parameterisation of the assumptions feeding the capital model
- Completing the focus area returns, analysis of change and LCR forms
- Compliance with Solvency 2 standards including validation
- Keeping abreast of latest capital modelling developments and market topics
- Dealing with any queries from the regulator
- Development of the capital kernel so it meets the needs of both regulators and of Atrium
- Preparation of documentation and reporting of capital results and presenting/engaging on capital matters at the relevant committees.
- Model validation including stress and scenario testing and providing outputs from the capital model to the risk team to assist with model validation work

Lead on business specific capital modelling projects as needed including:
- Design and parameterisation of bespoke models
- Validating Parameter Selections
- Assessing appropriateness of models
- Assessing the validity and materiality of model assumptions and limitations
- Validating data used in modelling
- Preparation of supporting documentation for projects
- Preparation and reporting of results for the relevant stakeholders and committees
Mentoring of more junior members of the team
Skills required
- Existing experience in a similar capital role with an in-depth understanding of Lloyd’s and a knowledge of issues affecting the insurance market
- Preference for FIA or equivalent but not mandatory
- Good IT skills and in particular, good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and dedicated Actuarial software, ideally Remetrica or Igloo.
- Highly Numerate with Financial Awareness
- Multi-disciplined, professional approach
- Excellent, interpersonal and communication skills
- Good judgement skills regarding task prioritisation, delegation and resource allocation.
- Able to take responsibility for own competence and address requirements in a timely manner
- A thorough understanding of the classes of business transacted by the organisation
