Capital Project Manager
Are you an experienced project leader with a passion for high-impact infrastructure? The London Borough of Hackney is looking for a dynamic Capital Project Manager to join our Property and Asset Management team. This is a unique opportunity to lead multi-million-pound housing investment and capital schemes from initial inception through to successful completion.
Working under the Head of Capital Delivery, you will not just manage construction; you will be instrumental in maintaining the quality, safety, and longevity of Hackney’s housing stock, directly impacting the lives of our residents.
About the Role
In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of the full project lifecycle. You will act as the contract administrator for framework and standalone agreements, leading site meetings, conducting technical reviews, and ensuring every project—from procurement to final sign-off—is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, including quantity surveyors, clerks of works, and resident liaison officers, ensuring clear communication and seamless project execution. Your technical expertise will be crucial in managing CDM requirements, risk mitigation, and ensuring all works are compliant with legislative and Council standards.
Beyond the technical delivery, you will be the face and voice of the Council for your projects. You will act as an expert spokesperson, providing professional, clear, and authoritative advice to senior management, Councillors, and the public. Whether navigating complex legal enquiries or leading resident consultation meetings, your ability to articulate project goals and resolve issues will be essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
