Summary

This role offers a 6-month contract with a local authority, providing professional Quantity Surveying expertise within Housing Property Services. The position is crucial for developing contract documentation, procuring goods, services, and works, and ensuring effective financial management of construction and maintenance projects. The role is compensated at a rate of £45 per hour under an umbrella arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed contract documents, including tenders, bills of quantities, work schedules, specifications, and rate schedules.
  • Lead or assist in the procurement processes for goods, services, and works contracts, including tender evaluations and report preparation.
  • Stay informed about standard building contract forms and measurement methods.
  • Conduct site measurements and valuations, preparing payment notifications and related financial documents.
  • Prepare and negotiate costs for variations and non-standard work items.
  • Analyze, negotiate, and finalize claims and accounts.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in the construction industry, covering both pre-contract and post-contract Quantity Surveying responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and issuing contract documentation.
  • Strong expertise in cost management, work valuation, financial reporting, and budget management.
  • Familiarity with various building contract forms.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
  • Professional or chartered membership is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A full UK driving licence is necessary, especially for site visits.

Additional Information

  • Working hours are 37 hours per week, spread over 5 days on-site, with some days requiring travel to different sites.
  • The position is based at Crossgates House, Crossgate Road, Park Farm, Redditch, B98 7SN.
  • A driving licence is required.
  • Payments are made bi-weekly.
