Jefferies is a leading global, full-service investment banking and capital markets firm providing advisory, sales and trading, research, and asset management services to corporate clients, institutions, and governments worldwide. Our Financial Restructuring team advises companies, creditors, sponsors, and other stakeholders on complex financial situations, including balance sheet restructurings, liability management exercises, distressed M&A, recapitalisations, refinancing transactions, and special situations across Europe and internationally.
Position Overview
Jefferies is seeking an experienced Associate to join its Financial Restructuring team in London. The successful candidate will play a key role in the origination and execution of complex restructuring and special situations mandates, working closely with senior bankers, clients, investors, legal advisers, and other stakeholders.
This is an opportunity to work on high-profile transactions involving debtor-side and creditor-side assignments, distressed mergers and acquisitions, liability management exercises, and capital structure advisory mandates across a broad range of industries.

Key Responsibilities
Transaction Execution
- Support the execution of financial restructuring, recapitalisation, refinancing, distressed M&A, and liability management transactions.
- Coordinate workstreams across clients, legal advisers, accountants, lenders, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in negotiation processes and transaction documentation.
Financial Analysis & Modelling
- Build and maintain detailed three-statement operating models.
- Develop restructuring and recovery models, liquidity analyses, debt capacity assessments, and scenario analyses.
- Analyse alternative capital structures and strategic outcomes for clients and creditors.
Valuation & Strategic Advisory
- Perform valuation analyses including:
- Discounted Cash Flow (DCF)
- Comparable Company Analysis
- Precedent Transaction Analysis
- Sum-of-the-Parts Valuation
- Recovery and Liquidation Analysis
- Evaluate strategic alternatives and capital structure solutions.
Client Materials & Presentations
- Prepare board presentations, creditor presentations, pitch books, information memoranda, and management materials.
- Deliver clear and compelling financial analysis and recommendations for client discussions.

Industry & Market Research
- Monitor restructuring, leveraged finance, debt capital markets, and special situations activity.
- Analyse market developments, industry trends, credit conditions, and distressed opportunities.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop Analysts.
- Review financial models, presentations, and analytical work.
- Support the efficient management of transaction processes and junior team resources.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree with an outstanding academic record.
- Typically 3-6 years of relevant experience in:
- Investment Banking
- Financial Restructuring
- Leveraged Finance
- Debt Advisory
- Valuation
- Transaction Services
- Demonstrated transaction execution experience.
- Strong accounting, corporate finance, and valuation expertise.
- Advanced financial modelling capabilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
