I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Each pathway is structured around three progressive outcome levels, designed to reflect a student’s journey from exploration and foundational execution to increasingly sophisticated, independent, and impact-driven work. As students advance, they are challenged to deepen their expertise, take greater ownership of their projects, and demonstrate tangible outcomes within their chosen field.
The Role
As a Capstone Mentor, you’ll guide students through their personalized project journey, helping them transform their ideas into meaningful, well-executed initiatives. You’ll support students in developing their vision, building and executing strategic plans, and progressing toward their pathway- and tier-specific outcomes.
Through regular mentoring sessions, document reviews, progress checkpoints, and coordination of expert consultations, you’ll provide the structure and guidance students need to stay on track. Your role is to help students take increasing ownership of their projects while ensuring they deliver work that demonstrates substantive growth, leadership, and meaningful impact - both within the project itself and as part of their broader college application journey.
Main Responsibilities
- Mentor students through regular sessions, structured checkpoints, and ongoing project guidance.
- Guide project development from initial proposal through execution, milestone completion, and final submission.
- Track student progress against pathway- and tier-specific outcomes, providing timely feedback and support to keep projects on track.
- Coordinate expert consultations and external resources, helping students access the expertise, networks, and opportunities needed to strengthen their projects.
- Support students in developing meaningful, impact-driven projects that demonstrate ownership, leadership, and real-world outcomes.
- Collaborate with Strategists and Admin teams to ensure a coordinated and seamless student experience.
